Property Buying FAQs

How much notice do you need to review a contract when buying property?

Generally, we have a quick turnaround for this however it’s best to phone us and ensure we will be able to review the contract within the period you need us to.

Yes, we charge a fee per contract. Please speak to us about reviewing multiple contracts and we will see how we can assist.

There are several items we speak to you about such as cooling-off periods, deposits, settlement periods and more.

We deal with a number of clients by phone, email, Zoom and there is generally no need for a face to face meeting.

Disbursements are the expenses that the conveyancer or solicitor has incurred during the process of purchasing a property, eg. land title searches. These fees are directly passed onto the client.

You can conduct searches yourself using DIY conveyancing kits, but these generally only provide guidance material. Conveyancers and solicitors are qualified and experienced in conducting legal searches and can help with easing this part of the process for you.

As part of the conveyancing process, we can look into this for you and we can also let you know if there is any government authority that has a vested interest in the land, eg. local council, Sydney Water and Transport for NSW.

There are multiple risks if you choose to review the contract yourself and you will be personally liable if there is an issue with the sale. Having a professional property solicitor can help to identify your obligations as the buyer, help you understand the various clauses within the contract and provide advice when you need to make an informed decision about the sale.
